The BBC had an interesting program on about drinking water.

What struck me was that in order to get a litre of water to your home trough the water mains added 0.3 grams of co2 to the atmosphere. A litre of botteled "designer" water would add 180 grams.

Mmm.

They also tested several waters for flavour. Renowned sommeliers took a sip of a lot of different kinds, including the most expensive and the local tap water. It was very hard for them to determin what was the most expensive, the differences were minute. In the end most thought the tap water was the most expensive.

Mmm.

A lot of high grade plastic gets trown away because of not drinking tapwater. Not recycled or reused. No, thrown away. This is a true shame. With a bit of luck it gets burnt, providing a bit of energy to the national grid. But still, it's a shame.

Here's what to do:

• Don't buy botteled water if you can get tapwater (if it is nice to drink of cource). Donate the money you save to a water project so that more people get acces to clean drinking water.
• If you run a restaurant, offer tapwater and let people donate to a waterproject listed on the menu.
• If you want to bring water with you, fill a bottle at home. Design a label saying:

  Pure drinking water
  Botteled from local sources
